Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing & booking
How much does process serving cost?
Services range from $60 to $200 per job. Every job is quoted individually before work begins. Use the service request form or call 760-961-1813 for a free quote.
What affects my price?
Three main factors: the area and location of the address, whether the person is being served at a residence or a business, and road access (for example, unpaved or hard-to-reach roads). Rush requests and extra addresses or attempts can also affect the quote.
Is the quote free?
Yes. Quotes are always free, and we will tell you the price before any work begins.
When do I pay?
Payment is due before or at the time service is attempted, unless we agree otherwise in writing. See our Terms of Service for details on cancellations and refunds.
How can I pay?
Once your price is set we email you a private link. On your Current Customer page you can pay with PayPal, Zelle, Cash App or Venmo — a quick, safe and easy way to check out. After you send it, press "I've sent payment" and our office confirms receipt, usually the same business day. We never ask for your card or bank number.
Do you offer rush or same-day service?
Yes, when our schedule allows. Mark "rush" on the service request form and we will confirm availability for your deadline before you book.
Proof & documentation
What proof will I get?
Every serve includes a signed proof of service, plus photo documentation — a photo or Meta glasses video of the service and/or a photo of the property. Photo and video documentation is in addition to the signed proof of service, not a replacement for it.
What is a proof of service?
It is the form the server signs under penalty of perjury describing who was served, with what, and when, where, and how. You (or your attorney) file it with the court. A proof signed by a registered process server also lists the server's county of registration and registration number (Bus. & Prof. Code § 22360).
Will the court accept the video?
The signed proof of service is the document the court relies on. Photos and video are supporting documentation; we cannot guarantee how any court will treat them.
Who sees the photos and video?
Only you, and the court if needed. We never post them publicly or use them for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.
How service works
Can I serve the papers myself?
In most California cases, no. Papers must be served by someone at least 18 years old who is not a party to the case (Code Civ. Proc. § 414.10).
What is the difference between personal and substituted service?
Personal service means handing the papers directly to the person. Substituted service, allowed in some situations after reasonable attempts, means leaving the papers with a competent adult at the home or business and then mailing a copy; it is complete on the 10th day after mailing (Code Civ. Proc. § 415.20).
What if the person avoids service?
We make reasonable, good-faith attempts at different times and on different days. If service cannot be completed, we can provide a report or declaration of our attempts, which may help you ask the court about other options.
How many attempts do you make?
The number of attempts included is stated in your quote. If no number is stated, we make a reasonable number of attempts for the type of service requested.
Do you guarantee service?
No process server can guarantee that a person will be found or served. We guarantee honest, diligent effort and accurate documentation.
About us
Are you licensed?
California does not license process servers; they register with a county. Swift Serve SoCal uses registered California process servers (Bus. & Prof. Code § 22350 and following), and each proof of service states the server's county of registration and registration number.
What areas do you serve?
The Inland Empire valley communities of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, plus Los Angeles County. High Desert areas are not currently served. See our Service Area page for the city list.
What are your hours?
Monday through Thursday 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Friday through Sunday 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Can you give me legal advice or tell me which papers to file?
No. We are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice. For legal questions, contact a licensed California attorney or your court's self-help center at selfhelp.courts.ca.gov.
Ready to get your papers served?
Free quotes. Services from $60 to $200. Signed proof plus photo or Meta glasses video.
